Attorney Laura E. Kenney - Of Counsel

Laura E. Kenney, Esquire graduated with an Honors Degree in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario Canada before going on to receive a post-graduate degree in Public Relations from Humber College in Toronto. From there, Laura attended and graduated from Albany Law School in New York. During her time at Albany Law, Laura dedicated herself to representing clients in the law school’s prestigious Law Clinic & Justice Center with a practice order from the highest court in New York. In addition, Laura focused on trial practice and competed in her school’s Senior Prize trial competition.
Upon graduation, Laura relocated to South Florida and took at position at the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office. During her service as an Assistant State Attorney, Laura worked her way up through the office prosecuting hundreds of cases including misdemeanor crimes and domestic violence cases in county court, juvenile offenses from misdemeanors to life felonies and serious adult felony cases. Laura was then appointed to the specialized position of Juvenile Sex Crimes prosecutor in both juvenile and adult court. Before leaving the State Attorney’s office to begin private practice; Laura spent her last year as a prosecutor working on felony domestic violence offenses.
Laura has a unique understanding of the inner workings of domestic violence matters, divorce matters, and the complex nature of all family law matters. Laura's unique background with the Department of children and families, the criminal justice system, and the intertwined issues between the two make her a zealous advocate for petitioners and respondents in divorce proceedings, adoption procceedings, and all other areas of family law. She is an invaluable asset to the law of Meltzer & Bell as "of counsel" to all family law matters for the firm.
